FAQS
What Areas can be treated?
3D Vjuve CO2 laser vaginal rejuvenation can be used both internally to treat the vaginal wall and externally to treat the surrounding tissues such as the labia.
Is it safe and does it hurt?
Clinical data has shown that CO2 vaginal rejuvenation is a safe, efficacious, and cost-effective treatment for vaginal atrophy. Prior to treatment, a topical local anaesthetic is applied to the external treatment areas to maximise patient comfort. During the treatment, patients may experience a heat sensation and slight discomfort. Often the internal application to treat the vaginal wall causes more of a vibration sensation rather than pain, although treatment settings can be altered to make the treatment more comfortable if required.
Are there any side effects?
Warmth, redness and swelling may be experienced following treatment, and small white dots or perforations may also be visible on the external genitalia with some flaking possibly occurring over the following days.
On occasion, patients may experience some bleeding or discharge post-treatment which shouldn’t require any treatment and resolves within 24-48 hours. It’s not uncommon to also experience a watery vaginal discharge after the treatment which may last for several days.
A patch test on the inner thigh is also carried using the laser during the consultation.
How many treatments are required?
A course of 3 treatments at 4 weekly intervals often delivers the best results. However, every individual is different, and your practitioner will recommend the best number of treatments for you. When further rejuvenation or symptom relief is needed, a maximum of 5 treatments can be undertaken. Clinical studies have shown that improvements in vaginal health and satisfaction with the treatment can last up to 24 months, although benefits start to decline between 18-24 months.
